Default Power Numbers for 6.2L in Raptor

As per Autoblog who is reporting the numbers as certified and official.

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/11/03/s...50-raptor-6-2/

411 hp @ 5500 rpm
434 ft/lbs @ 4500 rpm

Most powerful gas engine in a pick up. Hopefully the 6.2L finds a home in engine bays beyond the Raptor and Super Duty applications.

I wasn't expecting the odd numbers, thinking maybe Ford would rate it a little low, maybe 410/430 or even 405/425. They've been on the conservative side for years it seems.

They are rating it just high enough to stay ahead of the 6.0 Chevy V8. If Chevy or Dodge releases a more powerful version then Ford has room to up their power as well.

Looks about right when compared to the competition. Notice the torque is noticeably higher and the peak horsepower is made at a lower RPM. This leans toward more conservative cam timing, which makes sense for a truck engine. A Mustang would probably receive a more agressive cam that peaked in the 6000 RPM range, making similar horsepower to the Chev and Mopar.

Anyone else think it is interesting that the big three have produced dramatically different engines but are rated almost identical in power numbers? It's like they all got together and said, "let's shoot for 425hp.."

Raptor 6.2L Boss
Horsepower @ RPM 411 @ 5500
Torque @ RPM 434 @ 4500

Camaro SS 6.2 LS3
Horsepower @ RPM 426 @ 5900
Torque @ RPM 420 @ 4600

Dodge Challenger SRT-8 6.2L Hemi
Horsepower @ RPM 425 @ 6200
Torque @ RPM 420 @ 4800
