Default Help picking tires for drag racing

OK, so I just bought some 15x9 Weld Pro Stars for my GT500...and I need to get some tires for them.

I have 3.73 rear gears and the trans ratios for 1-4 are 2.97, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00. I tach out at 6300 rpm, but would be willing to take the car to 6500rpm at the top of the track if necessary. So, here is what I am looking at.

MT ET Drag
28.0/10.5-15
28.0/9.0-15
Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels

MT ET Street
27X10.50-15LT
Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels

Hoosier Drag Racing Slicks
28.0/10.0-15

Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT
27x11.50-15LT
27x10.50-15LT
https://www.hoosiertire.com/Drtire.htm

and finally

M&H Racemaster drag slicks
9.0/27.0-15
MandHTires.com

i am leaning towards the MT ET streets and the hoosier quicktime pro's, as I feel 27" tire is perfect for my car.

I anticipate on trapping 127-129 when I go to the track in the fall on motor and if I spray 135+.

thanks

I vote for the QTP you have listed
Or
Hoosier 325-50-15 DOT DR
have you considered that DR?

Jeff, I am going to switch tires at the track, so I see no benefit for a DR over a slick...the sway does not bother me.

any of those are good choices. except the last one, i havent seen anyone run those. if you bought the rims just for the track i would skip the et streets and go straight to the drag slicks. that way you can cruise around town on your street tires then when you go to the track you can put on your slicks. mt drag slicks are a great tire. i have found that hoosiers seem to grip better on grimmy unpreped tracks better than mt drags. dont worry though you will go through them fast enough so you will be able to try them all.

I hear u on the drags...I lean away because I ideally should be running a 27" tire...actually a 26.5 would be perfect for me. My car pulls hardest from 5500-6300 and a 27" tire will leave me in a better RPM vs the 28".

based off weight and power the 27-28 tires will work best

QTP have always seem to be better then ET streets(not dr's)

i dislike slicks because they can get you tickets on the street. never know when you want to street drive them.

also the only reason i say the hoosier 325-50 DR might be a option is because hoosier DR's are really working well IMO outdoing BFG,NITTO, and MT

anyways i plan on running the QTP or hooser DR

also reving isnt going to make you much faster if any faster there is so much TQ there the car doesnt need to be revved. tough call
any of the non MT products i would use

I've had the ET Streets & now the 28" Hoosier Slicks. There is no comparison - the Slicks let me launch harder (5,500) and have always hooked for me. I've got 3.73's too.

28" tire all the way especially if you're gonna spray.

thanks for the info...do u guys think it's worth it to go to a 28" tire to get a slick?

Jeff, reason I say the car pulls harder up top is because it does...look at how it pulls when it's taching out 4th. Oh, and these rims/tires will NEVER see the street.
