Clutch Guru's Step Into My Office Please!!
I've got a Spec 3+ coming with a 26 spline input upgrade. I don't plan on replacing my flywheel with a Fidanza like I see so many people doing, I plan on resurfacing my stocker if it looks to be in decent shape. Why do people spend the extra money on flywheels with their new clutches if their existing one is in good shape? Also, I plan on doing the install myself and have read posts where results have been poor due to the installation, I don't get what could get messed up with such a simple task, but please inform me if there's a special reason I should pay a professional to do work that I feel I can do. Just to let you know, I plan on farming out the flywheel resurface and the 26 spline input into the trans install, I'm just going to bolt the stuff together on my car, I HOPE!!!

Re: Clutch Guru's Step Into My Office Please!!
The nice thing about the Fidanza clutch is it has a removable friction plate on it. So on down the road when you change the clutch again for whatever reason, all you need to do is buy a new friction plate instead of machining the flywheel. Also the stocker can only be resurfaced once before to much material is taken off. Here's a good video for installing a Spec 3+, step by step, by the guys from DDDdirectory. Maybe it'll help ya out.

Thanks 04 SVTsnake, that's very helpful.

According to one of the clutch manufacturers, the stock FW can flex under the stress/load of an aftermarket pressure plate.
I would replace the stock FW with a Fidanza.

While that statement MIGHT have some merit (although I find it a little difficult to believe, unless you're using one hell of a legbreaker clutch), beware of somebody just wanting to sell you a flywheel. There is a lot of BS and misinformation flying around from product vendors these days.

Get some skills and go road racing. Use the brakes, steering, and gas for a change. Besides, you paid for all 3.
Some people work on cars. Others work on fancy signature graphics. Which one are you?

Ya, it is a little hard to believe, but I thought I would pass it along anyway because it wouldn't take much distortion to screw up an otherwise perfect clutch install.
