Default tuning 1000HP on pump : vid inside

turbo guys, I've kind of beaten this vid to death on the other forum but I'm just fascinated w/ this car... for anyone that knows anything about tuning...can we have a discussion on this 1000 hp pump gas terminator. I was curious to what you guys think of this guys tuning set-up...what are your best guesses on:

-boost levels
-AFR
-total timing
-injector size
-returnless or return system

to be able to keep this monster alive on pump...this is tuning genius in my book...is this guy on here?

He's on here. His screname is EB(something?).

This was discussed on turbomustangs a while back, and IIRC he said he is either mixing torco, or spraying meth (can't remember which) with pump gas to make the numbers and run the times!

Fast, well built car, and I believe he is making it faster!

Umm...that would be me! lol

What do you want to know? If it's about tuning, I didn't do it. PSI Motorsports in PA did it. Anything in particular you want to know about the tuning? It was actually fairly easy. It did have an Alky Control methanol setup on it. I ran straight 93 octane and ran 18 psi on pump. Anything over, it still had 93 octane in it but the methanol setup would come on. All we did was upped the boost. The methanol setup had its own GM 3 bar map sensor. It sprayed methanol proportional to boost. The a/f was nice and smooth. All we had to do was pull out about 20% fuel from the tune. The car made 880 rwhp through a slipping 4R70W trans with loose converter on 24 psi. I ran as much as 27-28 psi still with 93 octane gas. Some guys would shy away from this. I have to admit, the methanol setup works awesome. My air inlet temps were something like 88 degrees. The motor stayed together all year with no issues from March until October with multiple track passes and street races. The cheapy boost controller failed in October and it lifted a head gasket at around 30 psi with regular ARP head studs. The car had gone 146 and change on the rev limiter because the trans was slipping. I had the trans redone in late September last year and went to the track on the 18" wheels again and it trapped a best of 152 on 27-28 psi.

The engine was near stock with nothing more than Manley pistons in it and SHM stage 1 cams which probably hurt it more than anything.

This year, I put a TH400 in it and went from the T3/T4 67 turbos to T4 billet wheel 62's and installed an NHRA cert cage in the car. The oil pump broke on the dyno but it looked promising at 540 rwhp at only 14 psi and no timing in it and very rich as we just started messing with it.

I am now going to put billet rods in it with CP pistons and turn it up some. Now I have a good driveshaft and suspension in the car so I can actually launch it. The goal is to run 8.80-8.90's with it with the small turbos and then I'll consider going to a T4 67 setup. The car went 152 with the little T3/T4 67's with 2 1/2" downpipes and stock throttle body. I'm trying this all on the stock computer and an SCT mass air meter. It has nothing more than a switch chip and MAF extender. Everyone, including myself, agrees that a stand alone is far superior. However, I want to run well into the 8's with the factory stuff just to do it. I will be running C16 at the track now though. This, all along with the car being a daily driver. We'll see what happens next year.

I guess I should have read it better.

Boost was 27-28 psi at most...usually 24. All with 93 octane and twin nozzle methanol injection.
A/F was around 10.5-10.7:1 (methanol will richen it up a bit)
Total timing was 18 degrees
Injector size was RC 72's high impedence but they were maxxed which the methanol helped out with as a fuel source.
It had a return style setup with Weldon pump and dial a flow, sumped tank, 10AN feed, 8AN return, Weldon regulator, sullivan rails. I have now switched to a Glenn's performance fox body tank, Magnafuel Pro tuner 750 pump, no voltage controller, same lines, etc. I didn't want to rely on a Hobbs switch or me remembering to flip a switch for the dial a flow. I watched a guy put down 1200+ rwhp through a glide with the same pump. The pump is quieter in the car than a Weldon.
I also spun the motor to 7200 rpm with factory ECU with an SCT Eliminator chip and Mafterburner Extender for the mass air.
Mass air was an SCT 2800.
The track video with the car was on 18X9.5 wheels all around with BFG drag radials on it. I couldn't launch the car due to them and having a stock driveshaft so I didn't use the trans brake. It was foot brake at around 2200 rpm, let off the brake and let it roll and wait for the turbos to spool up forever! lol
Car also weighed 4015 with me in it and had functional a/c and everything.

Greddy Profec B Spec 2.

That wasn't a big deal though. It ran since then. I sold the whole turbo setup and fabbed my own. I went with aluminum cold side, full 3" through the K member, etc.

The problem this year was that I screwed up. I went with an external oil cooler and I had the lines on and off a few times and ended up with them switched which means no oil. To compound that, I had the oil pressure sending unit in the remote oil filter adapter so it read pressure. I figured it out when it was making some noise after I first started it up. Anyway, it seemed fine until I got it on the dyno. The billet gears in the oil pump broke and the pump locked. Luckily it was on decel after making a pull so the heads, cams, timing components, etc are fine. I didn't get into the bottom end yet, just got the timing cover off and found the oil pump all messed up. Now, I'm kind of at a crossroads. I never thought it would have ran the way it did last year and it really should have billet rods. I know some guys are still running H beams but technically it should have billet rods. I'm going to pull the bottom end apart and see what kind of damage may or may not be there and then make a decision. Right now, after making a bunch of calls, I'm leaning toward a Teksid block with the factory crank if it's alright, billet rods, and any 2618 piston, probably a CP. If the crank is tore up, I'll probably do a stroker since I have to buy all the reciprocating assembly anyway. Either way, then I can safely run 30 lbs of boost on it and lean it out and make some power on race fuel. I want to get the car to trap around 160 next year with the factory ECU. I honestly don't ever want to go faster. It's just a stupid goal that may never happen and I may just keep breaking it trying.

By the way, I'm going to have some parts for sale like a DSS main support, 3.73 gears, manual master cylinder, 72 lb injectors.
