Default YSI supercharged 2005 Mustang GT.

Here is a glamor shot of the car :)

Here are some crappy iphone pics of the build...

Build Specs:
04 Cobra Block - Cobra Crank / Forged Manley H-Beams / 9.0:1 Forged Manley Pistons / ARP hardware / CMRC
Vortech CCW V7-YSI w/ Full Race Sheetmetal 3core Intercooler / 3.5" Piping / ATI Overdrive Dampener
Vortech 8rib conversion
2 x 50mm Tial Race BOV
75lb/hr Injectors / SCT BA-500 MAF / Custom Billet Fuel Rails / Twin GT-500 Fuel Pumps / -8an Fuel Line
Hooker Full Length Headers, Custom 3" X-pipe, 3" Magnaflow Cat-Backs. (Race Only)
Spec STG III Racing Clutch w/ Aluminum Flywheel
Zex Nitrous Kitw/ Remote bottle opener, Heated Blanket, Purge Kit
MSD Custom Ignition / Coilpacks / Window switch / Tach Driver
Diablosport Predator - Custom Tuned by Wolf Performance Ed Hohenberg
Built and Fabricated by Motion Performance

Here is what we ended up getting.. this was at 18lbs of boost afr: 11.3-11.5 throughout
This is on a superflow dyno so there were 2 sets of numbers.. CWHP and STPPwr
I'll post both.. Both the shop and tuner said CWHP was most accurate. I tend to believe them, as the last dyno showed my previous setup at 458CWHP and I ran 12.18@118mph

We will be revisiting the tune and more dyno time in the next week or so... and see what she does with the nitrous and 110octane
Not bad for stock heads, stock vavletrain, stock displacement.

Maybe someone could answer my question... I didnt get a chance to ask the tuner.
As the car made more boost at higher RPM my hp began to fall, I know it wasnt heatsoaked or inefficient as IATs showed the dyno run ending around 10degrees higher than start. Spark blowout? Limitations of stock valvetrain/heads?

A funny note..
We realized when we needed to add the 2nd BOV was when the car made it's first full rpm pull... once we shut her down, the BOV did not release the pressure fast enough... The cap on the Throttlebody TPS popped right off and we had to hunt for it.

Next on deck, is a built AOD-E and Rollbar.

Special thanks to Frank@Vortech for helping us out with some AWESOME support.

Any input is welcomed.

Thanks!

Our heads and cams will wake up that application.

Our customer, Kevin, has a non-intercooled T-trim running our stock displacement short block, our heads and stage II cams. Lets just say, since he doesn't want the numbers released yet, that it's up there in power and he's getting around 30 mpg on the highway too.

I like how you used the YSi-trim on there. My sources at Vortech informed they were working on a kit for the larger blower.

Thanks Mike
The YSI bolted onto the bracket that came with the S-Trim.
The hardest part was fabricating all the 3.5 inch piping for the intercooler.

Now if vortech put together a kit with pre-fabbed piping, aftercooler/intercooler and 8rib conversion with either a JT or YSI trim... I personally think they'd have a winner on their hands.

When my motor popped, I was looking at which path to go down..
The YSI seemed like an easy choice, as I already had the bracket and I could trade up to the YSI from an s-trim.

Im personally suprised there are not a ton of YSI blown 3v(s) as the whole thing went pretty smooth.

Here are some tips for anyone thinking about a YSI...
1. Make sure you get a big BOV or Bypass... we ended up with 2 50mm Tial Race BOV
2. Make sure you get an 8rib conversion
3. Make sure you get an OD Dampener if you're running high boost it will allow you to run a larger pulley
4. Make sure you double check injector sizing to fit stock intake!!! Some fat body injectors will not fit without serious Macgyver(ing).

Trying to nail down a tune this week or the next.. after some more miles are put on her..
Wish me luck..

Dennis
