Default Truck vs Car Tuning?

I have heard on some forums that truck tuning is special and different than car tuning. I tune a truck only, so that is the limit of my experience. I don't see much difference from what I have read other than strategy differences.
Are there any key points or differences between tuning one platform or another that I am not aware of?

Default

Some claim spark table differences when the acceleration time is longer (IE on the a heavy truck) but I don't think that is an overwhelming factor based on all my experience with cars, heavy cars, trucks, drag racing, road racing, and a loaded dyno. I don't run stuff on the ragged edge either, though, IE a blown stock SOHC has no business running 20* of timing on pump gas.
