Good info from Procharger @ Surge Valve and loss of Boost
I know Myself, Funky Boss, and Other's are having a prob so I wanted to start a new post about it. I also need to take back what I said, Procharger was EXTREMELY helpful yesterday and spend quite some time with me on the phone.
Problem
We have these POS Surge Valves that bleed Boost when Closed
Some of us are not seeing all our Boost
No one seems to have an exact replacement in-line valve.
Directions suck money ass and dont tell us which way it goes and or how to adjust it
(I know some have customized pipes and or made other modifications so you can use a diff Valve, I surely now understand why and wish there was a pre-fabed kit to do it)
Forgive me for forgetting who I spoke to but he was extremely helpfull. At one point he even put me on hold went outside and opened the Hood of a Procharged Stang and gave me a lot of good info and things to try.
PC claims the valve should make NO DIFF and can be installed in either direction. I went on to explain how mine reacts totally diff when flipped around. One way I have too much Idle Vac (@23lbs) and hardly no Boost, the other way I have proper idle vac (19-20) and do get proper boost (at least sometimes). He thinks thats a result of a inproper Vac Source (more below)
Procharger's Recommendation's
Idle source MUST COME from a stand along location, (not shared with a line going to the TB or anywhere else for that matter (as mine is). He said even if you have to drill and tap the manifold, you must use a stand alone source.
On their Stang he claims there is a larger 3/8" Vac Source @ the EGR and Idle Control and thats what they use. He seemed to think it was and extra line not being used before ? I looked at a pic of the motor while we spoke and COULD NOT find this line ? He said if your looking at the Motor is should be @ the Horses Ass, hehehee..
Not the PCV Line, Not the Line going to the Square box in front of TB, not the line going to the Procharger Intake Pipe, and not the one going to the TB Intake Pipe
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT LINE HE'S TALKING ABOUT ???
(in there case they make a little manifold and adt this larger source to (2) smaller connection, one to the Surge Valve, one to the Boost Gauge, But they DO NOT share it with anything else and said I cant either)
As for a better Valve
Procharger told me the Other Valve they have (The Red Race Valve) will not work with our set up or SC and is only used on larger SC's and much more boost applications, he said we couldnt even hold the valves open. So they have one valve and one valve only for the 8-10lb P-1SC. Although I explained how we can blow through them and see light through them, he insisted that is a very minimum loss and they work fine.
As for adjusting the Valve
He was very firm on "THE VALVE NEVER NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED" but of course I didnt take that for an answer and in talking found out mine is clearly NOT ADJUSTED CORRECT.
You have the set screw with the Allen on top and the lock down nut.
He said only 1/8" should be showing above the lock down nut, MINE IS WAY OUT
Other than that he blames all boost loss on Belt Slippage, (thats def NOT my prob)
So if the rain ever stops in NY I need to find a stand along Source of Vac,
and re-adjust my valve so 1/8" sticks out, I'll jump on it as soon as it dries up.
I hope this information helps some people that are having the same prob I am.....
(EDIT)
THANK YOU PROCHARGER.....

Re: Good info from Procharger @ Surge Valve and loss of Boost
It doesn't take too much to use the Bosch #114 bypass valves, they can be picked up @ any Saab/VW/Audi dealership, they hold 20+ psi and don't open until 7 in. of vacuum so you'll see better throttle response around town. When I installed my D1SC I blew through the stock ATI and didn't even consider installing it. With a 10# pulley I was seeing 11-13psi (depending on weather) with the stock blower inlet, t-body/plenum, long-tubes/off-road h-pipe.

Re: Good info from Procharger @ Surge Valve and loss of Boost
Thanks ALL
Wiplash I hope I hear from you again " HELP"
I bought a Brand new Bosch Valve recently, but it wont work : o (
A High Flow Heavy Duty one amof, but all it does is surge like a MF (and I tried it in both directions ???)
I assumed the problem was is cant flow enough to dump the Boost when I get off the pedal, it makes sence since the Bosch is only 1" inlet/outlet and the stock is a full what 1-1/2" ? I have it sitting here in a box doing nothing now...
(I made it fit ok with 2 sleeve's I made, the prob is the surging)
IF YOU KNOW OF A WAY TO MAKE IT WORK PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Re: Good info from Procharger @ Surge Valve and loss of Boost
I guess I should have stated I used two of them, sorry! I still had a little surging, but contributed it to the setup being blo-thru and was able to tune most of it out. I can tell you that I converted to draw thru and it surged terribly with two of them..... then the fix was using only one!!!???

Re: Good info from Procharger @ Surge Valve and loss of Boost
Good info Rob, I'm gonna try some different vac sources tonight (if it stays dry). I am installing my 3.5 rr puley on thursday and getting tuned on friday, so I definetly need to get this bpv situation figured out.

Re: Good info from Procharger @ Surge Valve and loss of Boost
Those little valves just dont work, even if you hold them open, the plumbing is so restrictive you will still see boost at the engine. best for anyone to just upgrade and fit a bigger bypass valve, vortech has some nice valves, the mondo will work best, but you can also just install a blow off valve, somthing with a 2 inch or 50mm valve.
