Finally thanks to Jameshell we have a affordable fixed secondary passenger side tensioner. Beware big pictures. The tensioner literally took a minute to swap over the parts. I will also show how easy it is to swap stuff. This takes around 4 degrees of timing error off the passenger side intake camshaft. James did such a great job even down keeping the oiling groove that oils the chain. The solid steel piece is top notch.

Hope we can place our orders soon.

Give James a little elbow room guys. That first item was what is called a proof of concept. It show the dimensions, plumbing and concept were on target. The next step is to build the tooling to produce these little gems more than one at a time. That takes additional time, costs money and results in a lower cost for you, which in addition to the fix is something you all hold near and dear to your hearts (and wallets).

This item is not going away any time soon and James will be more than happy to turn the production machine on for you - just give him a little more time to screw the whole thing together.

I have plenty of time, I'm no where ready for it.

can this be done when motor is already built / running?

Valve covers and front cover must be removed. Then you lock the cams and remove the passenger side timing chains. Swap tensioners and put it all back together.

When all that drama about the cloyes secondary chains came to surface on this forum I dropped my motor, trans, & K member and put the stock timing chains on over the course of a weekend. I set the degree wheel up and spun it around just to check & ensure the cams didn't go anywhere. They didn't...

I seriously doubt it. I was hoping the same thing when I went in to replace the secondary chains. There wasn't enough space to even remove the primary sprocket from the end of the cam.

Even if you could get the sprocket off somehow, you'd be up against trying to lock the guide tensioner somehow while simultaneously holding the chain up so it doesn't go slack on the crank sprocket resulting in it going together a tooth (or more) off...

After goofing with it for about 15 minutes I said "no flipn way" and just took everything apart.

Man am I glad I discovered this now while it is torn all the way down. finally in the right place at the right time for once!!!!

Ok so this goes on the passenger side, that's the easy valve cover to get off, so the big question is Can this be changed out with out removing the timing chain cover and worse removing the timing chains?
Its been so long since I did the cams I can't remember if this would be possible or not...\

BRO When can we buy this!!!?? LOL!!

The secondary chain is behind the primary chain meaning the primary sprocket has to come off. That big sprocket protrudes behind the front cover and from my experience there is not enough space behind the front cover to get the sprocket off the cam. Even if you could somehow get it off the cam you would have to jam something down the guide to keep the primary tensioner collapsed.

I say: Not possible

I am sending out my heads for porting after the holiday rush. I should be ready for the tensioner some time in February. Help they are ready for sale by then.

finally had time to degree the cams in my engine. Took under an hour lol cloyes gears are awesome. tensioner is so far so good lol I will pry get it in the car and running within a couple weeks.

I wonder how many pre-orders james has. I know there is a lot of guys on svtp and yellowbullet that were hunting to get some and then plus the rush on modfords... Could this be the most popular cobra engineering product yet? :good::good:

Is there a list? I hope I am on the top of the list LOL!!!

i bet he is flooded with orders for them :good: Im curious though of how many orders he actually has. It seems ppl were waiting for this for awhile. Accufab/mmr sure pissed it down there leg not making it affordable for there customers. James could even sell them to trickflow and/or cloyes i bet so they integrate them in there kits.

I never put in a order but have exchanged pm's with James about those and another one of his new products. I'm starting to think I should be on a list though.....

We should make a list for the part on a specific thread. I think I will start one.

So I managed to get 3 of these done.
I know there is a list. But I need test mules not regular production.
In other words I would like these three to go on a engine and make sure fit and function is good before I go to town on production.

Please PM me if you are interested in this. I prefer someone who is ready for install and fire up. So priority will go to closest to start up.
Of course for the trouble and risk I will get them to you for a good price.

Thanks to everyone.
James

James I am ready to install it as my motor is on the engine stand but I'm not sure when I will be ready to actually start her. I leave for work mid Jan for a month so I have been trying to get as much done as I can before I leave. If I can be of help let me know.

I'd love to help but I am no where near ready.
