well guys i know it happens and it did to me this weekend
took my cobra to the track and now it has a lower end knock
my question is this do i go with an 03 short block or have
a company like dss or livernois build me one


and will there be any reason the 03 will not work?

Try www.modularperformance.com, they had a shortblock on sale on their specials, or hot deals page. If nothing else, just have your shortblock rebuilt with some CP pistons, Manley rods etc.

You know the 03 block is iron and yours is aluminum, right?

The 03 block is an iron GT block with extra machining done for the Cobra crank to fit.

The short block for sale at Modular Performance site is 10.5 compression which I don't think you want with your supercharger. An 03 Cobra short block from www.fordpartsonline.com is $3457.34. Yeah, the increase in weight would suck but you could use 03 springs up front to fix that.
It probably comes down to cost, like it does most car things for the majority of us. If you go with having your shortblock rebuilt, my recommendation is to find reputable shop that is relatively close to where you live, to do the work.
