I was just asked about how the fuel sender in an 03 Cobra tank compares to that in a 96-98, so I figured I'd share the answer with everyone.
This is true for all Mustang trim levels, BTW.
The 96-98 cluster expects a sender resistance of 22.4 ohms when empty and 145 ohms when full. A functional 03 sender has a sender resistance of 15 ohms when empty and 160 ohms when full. (this is probably true for all Mustangs from 99-04.)
So if you swap an 03 Cobra tank into your 96-98 car, the gauge should read a little above F when full and a tiny bit (but not much) below E when empty. If it doesn't, something is wrong between the gauge and the sender.
