You will need either a custom header made for it, or a Kooks 2V header wtih a 3V flange. There is not enough room for adapter plates and the header flange.

I may have misread it, but it looks to me like LateModel Restoration used the adapter plates and long tube headers on their swap.

you did'nt miss read. they used the adapter plates. were getting headers made from mac with out flanges and going to use kooks 3V flanges, that will save some space.

am also doing a similar project but really different.

    95 v6 body, 302ci stroked 3v, 2004 transmission.
05 all wiring harness, no keys, no abs, no airbags and no crap.

For the moment I installed the stock headers ( no flange needed there ) but if your going with longtubes I suggest you get them.. and Logan motorsports has a complete kit which I bought and was REALLY useles for me.

am almost done with this project I just need to dissable the PATS and install a power steering pump. I lost mine somewhere. godamit.

I can get pics tomorrow. It is an 05 with 68k miles, came out of a car that was rear ended. I heard it run before I bought it. Car was extremely clean and engine ran great. I was originally going to use it for a fox swap, but I am now building a pushrod motor.
