Just what is a Boss F150? (2002)
Does the truck just consist of a body kit, badging, and interior package? Is there any difference between a stock '02 5.4L as far as the motor goes? I cant seem to find out much about them at all... Any help would be appreciated.. Thank you in advance!

Is it even considered a limited edition vehicle seeing as how they come with production numbers on the paperwork? I think 500 of them were made in 2002, but is there anything to it considering that some company just slapped a body kit and badges on it and sewed up the inside? Im not bashing them.... Just curious. LOL

This is what your looking for
La west did the conversion, 500 in 2002 and another 500 in 2003. Orange was avaliable in 2003 models. I already have my hot rods, Two mustangs. In needing a pick up I chose one that would be in the same scheme to match my ponys. I needed a smooth riding truck with towing that was not a hot rod. I have had no failures of any kind and still running good, of course with upkeeping on maintence. Here is a older picture, the 06 mustang has been updated since then, so i included a recent pic for your enjoyment.

LA West 5.4L Boosted F150
I have a 2002 F150 boss with a stock 5.4L supercharged engine.
I checked the VIN and it is a Lightning that was shipped to LA West in Indiana for the conversion. Not sure how many Lightning body in white were shipped to LA West. The company went out of business and getting production data and information is unavailable.
Not all Boss 5.4 LA West F150 are just the stock 5.4L. Mine has factory forged piston and rods.
I also checked Fords historic data for the engine plant and the internals for the standard 5.4L and H.D. and Lightnings used the same pistons and rods. The only difference I could find is the non-supercharged 5.4L had slightly higher compression ratio (piston dome profile) and cast crankshaft. The H.D. and Lightning 5.4L had a steel crankshaft. Some sites reference a "Forged" crankshaft and slightly lower compression ratio for the Boosted 5.4L.
