I think I'm going to build my own TH400 starting with a REID Racing case and Bellhousing and go from there. Most likely going with A Neal Chance converter he was very informative and really told me what I needed to hear. Plus he said with what he would set me up should only stall around 2100-2200 normal driving, very tight for my 90 percent street use. Said it would out live me and my kids. 10" billet pro-mod converter with mechanical diode.
Great choice for the case Chris. Reid is about an hour away from me with a very good reputation. The Reid case is built with the idea of a removable, interchangeable bellhousing. This approach is more attractive than a machined OEM case. The other thing I like about their case is the improved internal design for the transmission center support which is the perennial weakness in the TH400 trans.
The trans build is not difficult at all. BTW Reid offers an option to use some of the 4L80E componentry like the pressure plate and a side oil feed for the center support. These are good upgrades. I think they are standard on what they call their off road case. Despite the name it works fine on the street. The off road case also has an improved front band anchor which is a nice touch also. The only thing you will not get is the 4L80E OD but the proper axle ratio can compensate for that.
Nice job converting the engine stand to a transmission stand Chris! That makes the job of rebuilding one of those much more civilized.
I like your mid-plate to adapt the TH400 to the ModMotor's bellhousing pattern, very nice. Are you going to be attaching the mid-plate "ears" to the frame to solid mount the rear of the engine?
External transmission FL1A filter on Canton filter Mount with temp probe for aeroforce Guage. filter set up to protect cooler.
Breather from Moroso set behind passenger Fender as well.
What are the specs on it? Parts etc..
Your build is really going to help me especially your videos. I've watched them multiple times and its going to fun trying to learn how to do it all.
I'm very impressed with the lokar dip stick. Money very well spent. Even comes with a storage plug for when the transmission is out. Quick locking disconnect on both ends.
