Supporting Vendor Posting Guidelines

In the recent months, we have received a number of reported posts from users about various supporting vendors posting threads in the technical forums that are blatant advertisements and adding nothing of technical value in the forums.

We have always allowed our vendors to post in the technical discussions, even if they were promoting a new part, so long as it was a technical discussion. Obviously some things just aren't technical, and we only allowed vendors to post specials or blatant advertisements in the Vendors Specials forum. The complaint is that the Vendors Specials forum does not get the traffic that the technical forums do. Legit argument from both the users that make the site what it is and the vendors that pay the bills.

Effective 3/27/2012

-All Supporting Vendors are ALLOWED to have only one promotional thread in only one technical forum at any given time.

-The thread can be purely promotional with zero technical content.

-All promotional threads will be sticky.

-Once per month, the Supporting Vendor may chose to make a new thread, or have the thread moved to another technical forum. If a new thread is made, the old thread will unstuck and moved to the Vendors Specials forum.

-Supporting Vendors are still encouraged to participate in the technical discussions, as well as starting new threads that are technical in nature, even if the thread/post does promote a product or service they offer. It must add technical content, no exceptions.

-Supporting Vendors that are making a promotional thread need to PM me the link of their threads, so I can stick them.

-Supporting Vendors that sponsor a technical forum have always been allowed one thread to be stuck. This will continue and their one stuck thread is in addition to the one thread rule.
