We have replaced the camshaft phasers at my shop, but we also do new timing chains and guides while we are there, due to the high mileage that this problem usually shows up at. Sometimes a contributing factor is the type of oil filter you run. After market filters that emphasize filtration and sacrifice flow to do so contribute to this problem, primarily at idle rpm's, so we've found it's best to run the Ford Motorcraft oil filters. But anyways, it is expensive and needs to be fixed.
