    Default 03 hood paint issues

So has anyone had problems painting the factory hood? I took my hood to be painted due to road chips about 6 years ago after 2 other shops refused I found a guy who ended up repainting the hood 3 times before getting it right. So about a year ago I took it back to repaint again and after about 9 months the paint started cracking all over. So thankfully the guy stands behind his work I ended up bring the car back this week and after 4 days my hood is cracking again this is driving me crazy.

never heard of anyone having this issue on these cars. Your hood is aligned and spaced correctly right? Only other thing I can think of is an un-experienced painter not prepping correctly.

My stock hood's paint still looks like new after 12 years. And it is the Zinc Yellow which was probably the thinnest of all the colors.

I also have one of the custom hoods that Carlos made and it was painted grey. It still looks like it was just painted and it is a repaint.

I wouldn't have a ton of confidence in any shop that can't get paint to stick.

You should see what he is doing for the new GT500 hoods. Incredible!

They should really get the heat out from the engine compartment plus increase the airflow through the radiator.

So I gotta give the guy some credit the paint cracked yet again and he got the paint rep to eat the cost of the paint and labor and attempt to fix the hood again.

My hood was repainted in 2007 due to rock chips, has held up fine.
