Hello,
New here but not to working on cars. One of my many cars was a 01gt mustang which was an awesome car with great powerband. I recently picked up a 56 f100 and a 04 crown vic for suspension components and decided to use the power train as well. I have heard part of the wiring is tied into the body harness so I was looking for information and what I should be taking from the vic. I am going to be using the engine, trans and both front and rear suspensions. Staying fuel injected and all. I heard this is the place to go for modular information so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Good Morning Oldblue1 and welcome to the group. This definitely the place to have your questions answered. I was dropping a 4.6 DOHC Mark VII engine into my 66 F100 but have to put in on hold until after I get moved. If you read my thread you will see what I have accomplished so far. First get the EVTM Manual for your CV as well as the service manual. I mention the website I got mine from in my thread. The wiring from the CV can be thinned out to utilize only what you need to use and the ECM can be programmed to fit your build for example: deleting PATS from the ECM. The CV drive train will make your 56 run really nice, like a brand new car. As far as the suspension, I would DO A LOT MORE RESEARCH on it before you get started. I believe the track width is too wide for the 56. I know it is for my 66. If you are staying with a solid rear axle, take a look at an Explorer rear. Same 8.8 center section but a narrower track width and should fit nicely plus factory rear disc brakes. Check out these links for a couple fellow enthusiasts that wanted to do the CV mod to their 56 trucks.

All the best on your project and remember to get lots of pics and post 'em up here.

Thatnks for the reply and info. I have done quite a bit of research on the suspension and engine swap. That is basically why I bought the vic because it was the best bang for my buck when wanting to upgrade the 56. The front end alone is getting up to $650. So the whole car being $700 for both front and rear suspension , motor and trans I jumped on it. But again I was researching this for months and the wheels I want to run are flat faced anyways. Thanks for the help and links.
