Glad to see another truck guy. I have a lowered 2000 F150 4x4 Lightning conversion with too many mods to list. Been tweaking it apart and rebuilding things since 2003. Lots of knowledge here! Check out Lightningrodder too.
Thanks for the welcomes. Built short block, trick flow heads, bullet cams, 3.4 whipple. Conservative tune running 14.5 lb. boost @ 6200 rpm. Still making power, should have had assortment of pulleys when tuned.
Similar to my build.
3.4 whipple, ported trick Flow heads with oversize valves, custom grind cams, etc, etc...
Going to be pushing 22# on e85 & 18# on 93. I should be near 800hp on the corn.
14.5# of boost is extremely conservative. Large blowers need to be spun hard. My 2.3 made the same power as my 3.4 below 16# boost. Once I crossed 16# the 3.4 began out performing the 2.3
I super/pro drag race, wanted something to run 12 seconds in sportsman class, and have good running street driver. You are right about 3.4 at this boost level but to bracket race the charge air would be easier to keep low which does a lot for consistency. Have been trying to decide on set of wheels to run slicks, would like to run 15" due to more selection of tires but seems that is hard to do with stock brakes.
