Default No Prep Stick Shift Event

I hit a No Prep Stick Shift 1/8 mile event on Saturday with the Stick Shift Mafia at Orlando Speed World.
Conditions were less than ideal. Warm and sticky with a DA of ~1500. When the sun set dew was dripping off the cars.
I would up coming in 2nd in a field of 12-13 cars.
The Black Bath Tub never ceases to amaze me. Especially with 60s from 1.35 to 1.42 in a 3600lb stick vert.

Very nice job, Rick! I am always amazed by your car and its performance.

BTW I noticed you were running at one of those marginal Florida tracks where the track slopes downward from the starting line leaving the wheels in the air and no longer in contact with the strip as you leave the line. That has got to make it tough to steer in first gear.

Track starting line not withstanding that's still is a very impressive outing, in particular considering the difficulty steering off the line in first gear.

Snowed for the first time here yesterday (Utah). It was also snowing on me a bit as I walked into work this morning.

Awesome job at the event Rick!

    Thanks Ed!
My motor runs well due to great advice from people like you!

Since I live in a Southern state, the curvature f the earth is more pronounced since we are closer to the equator. LOL!

    Thank you guys!!
Today we have blue skies, sunshine and low 80s.
It is supposed to cool down a bit by the weekend just in time for the Mod Nats in Ga. Weather should be low 70s/50s.
I lost to Anthony Heard. Mid 8 second light fox with push rod turbo set up. Good driver also.

I knew there was a logical explanation, Joe. I was just scrounging around looking for it when you saved the day.

p.s. Your motor runs well because you built it well and tuned it correctly.

    nice runs as always.

The car is 3600 without driver? I just put my Mach on the scales at work and its 3660 with 3/4 tank (but it still has 2 12" subs and my little roadside toolkit I forgot about)

It's about 3600 with me. No woofers in my car!

I was just talking on the phone with Allen today and he said he was meeting up with you at Mod Nationals. What class are you going to enter (Small Blower/True Street/Driver Mod)? I bet you have a chance at winning any of them.

    Best of luck!

I am running in the Driver Mod(stick shift) class. There are a couple of really fast cars in that class. Nick Shortbridge is coming. He runs mid 8s on a stick.
One thing I have learned is the fastest guy doesn't always win.
Allen is going to make a test pass or two in my car!

Yup, one small screw up on the 3rd pedal and it's game over. He said he was pumped to make a pass. I bet your clutch setup would win him over but I have a feeling he is going to pull the manual out of his car.

That is what he says. Had a few friends go auto and they went a bit quicker but were bored. We shall see!

I thought I remembered Allen saying something like he had already bought the trans but was waiting for this winter to put it in. Am I confusing him with someone else or is my faulty memory actually working this time?

I know he broke a crank snout a month or two ago so there is going to be some freshening up required in the engine although he was planning on that before the snout breakage. I thought he intended to put it back in the car with an auto even before the whoops.
