    Default Rev limiter

    Hi
I'm new here and have a question
    2003 Mustang gt rev limiters
I have a 4.6 2valve GT 5speed manual and it goes into some sort of limp mode
From a standing start it will spin out to the red line -6000 -then into 2nd gear and it spins out ok again but into 3rd and it cuts at just over 5000 and the after that it goes into some sort of limp mode and won't go past 2700rpm but if I flick the ign off-on it instantly resets and goes through the process again
I've been told auto trans equipped cars have an overrev warning light that comes on but manual g/box cars go into this limp mode instead
Is this how it is--and if so what can be done about it
    Thanks
    willy

Thanks for providing us the solution so members in the future can learn from your exploits. ;)

I am sorry that I was unable to help you. I do not have a 2V, and I have not seen this issue before.

Thanks for the reply Josh, I was starting to think there wasn't anybody out there
Problem was partially blocked injectors causing a lean mixture over 5000
It would get through it in lower gears but with heavier load it leaned off and the ecu picked up on it and went into limp mode
The car's got cams and a throttle body so not quite std.
Checked it on the rollers and even with the injectors tweeked to 100% duty it still leaned after 5000
Fitted some new uprated multi nozzle injectors and ran a dyno session remapping fuel--and spark to suit and now back to 85% at 6000 on the injectors
Ended up with 268 hp at the wheels so fairly happy with that all up and it feels a lot stronger at road speed
    cheers

Awesome! I am glad you got it figured out. It's been so long since I've toubleshot a mustang without having all kinds of data at my disposal. I've gotten rusty over the years.
