    Default Break in oil recommendations

Surprisingly haven’t seen this covered a lot in here. I’ve got access to Amsoil 30w break in oil, and their lineup, but any other brand is only a few days away. What do you recommend
for break in, and later on, engine oil? Strictly strip car, sits most of the year, running 114 octane with turbos.

If the car is strictly a strip car then you don't need to worry about break in oil. Put a crankcase of racing oil in and go make a pass. The engine will be broken in between pass #1 and the competition of pass #2.

Ed, thanks for the recommendation, no harm then? Any benefit of giving it even a short break in? Due to this sickness, the track has shut down and I wanted to get the car up and running to limp it around to the dyno and hopefully be ready when it does reopen. Also, any choice in oil?

A race only engine is not like a street engine. It will be broken in on the first or second pass. Street engines are different. they can't be load the way a race engine is loaded and require the break-in they get by driving around town.

think about the last new car you bought. The engine was brand new, car probably had way less than 50 miles on the odometer and an OEM oil filter with OEM oil in the crankcase. What was the exotic break-in procedure you used on this brand new engine?

Race engines are broken in by racing.
