So, please take a minute and read through the rules. We are an open forum and have a lot of very educated people and offer the best tech of any modular forum out there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have but please do a search first. There is over 5 years of information on here and chances are that your question has been addressed already. Also, please introduce yourself and say "hi". We would love to get to know you and look forward to having you as a member.

    Posting Guidelines for ModularFords.com Forums

ModularFords.com’s forums were established in 2002 to create a friendly environment for late model Ford enthusiasts to interact in laid back, family-orientated environment. In order to foster this friendly interaction and create an environment where ALL enthusiasts feel comfortable posting and hanging out, we have created a set of rules and guidelines which all members are required to follow. These rules are general in nature, as it is impossible to spell out every possible offense that may result in a thread being locked, deleted, or edited. Anytime a rule is broken, a moderator may officially notify the member of the transgression. You may receive a "warning" for whatever rule was broken. The warnings will come to you as a PM (Private Message) or an e-mail. It will notify you of the moderator that issued the warning/ban, the date, time, and the post content that broke the rule. Any repeat offense to the same "Warning" may get board access restrictions (bans) placed on the offending ModularFords.com Member's ID. The rules are as follows:

    1. Expletives

Expletives (swear words) are not allowed, and for good reason. Many people are deeply offended by vulgar language. If you feel you must swear to get your point across, please censor your language appropriately so as to not be overly offensive. (e.g., "S***!") Replacing one or two letters in an expletive by using ASCII characters (! for I, etc) is not an acceptable solution.

    2. Commercial use of the site, Vendors and Spamming

Businesses which do no sponsor ModularFords.com may not:

    • Post advertisements or provide customer support in forum threads, private messages, article comments, garage postings and video postings.
    • Use the PM system to solicit customers, respond to customers (or potential customers) inquires concerning products, services, prices and customer support.

The classifieds are for private party, personal sales and our sponsors only. Non-sponsor businesses may not use the classifieds even for clearance items, "fire sales", etc. Business includes part time businesses as well.

    Spamming includes:

    • Excessive advertisement of other "for profit" forums.
    • Constant promotion of a vendor in exchange for products and/or services from a vendor.
    • Soliciting for members of this site to go and join another site. Mentioning another site for reference or as an information source is acceptable but direct solicitation aimed at our members to bolster some other site's membership is inappropriate and subject to moderator disciplinary action.
    • Lottery schemes and raffles.*
    • Solicitations to "Like" a Facebook or other social network page to help you.

Violations of these rules could possibly result in privileges to our board being restricted or denied without notice.

Spamming or business advertisements by businesses that do not sponsor ModularFords.com are not allowed. Threads or PMs determined to be "spam" will be deleted or forwarded to the administration, this type of posting could possibly result with privileges to our board restricted or denied without notice. Lottery schemes being advertised on this board are considered spam. If you are interested in sponsoring ModularFords.com, please send inquiries to MF/Ken.

*Raffles and fund-raisers for valid, registered non-profits or a member in need (for example, someone gets in a bad wreck at the track and funds are being collected to help the family) we may allow these on a case by case basis, and require you to get approval from MF/Ken before posting these.

    3. Flames or Derogatory Insults

Flames or derogatory insults are strictly against the rules. If you disagree with another member's point of view, do so in a mature and civil manner. If someone posts to discuss their personal problems or seek help from other forum members, please do not respond unless you have something positive or helpful to add. If you find yourself being flamed or insulted by another member, please do not dignify that person with a response. Notify a moderator and let us handle it. If you feel you must respond to a flame or insult directly, please do NOT do so on the board. Use private messages or e-mail.
Suggestion: If you are particularly irritated by another member's posting habits and are constantly fighting the urge to flame them, you can click on that person's profile, and select "Add to ignore list." This will make that person's posts invisible to you.

    4. Threats, Racism, or Sexism

Threads or replies promoting or expressing intolerant views towards minorities (race, religion, sexual preference, etc.) will not be tolerated.

    5. Porn

Porn is not welcome here. Pictures showing nudity may be allowed in our off-topic section if an appropriate "Not Work Friendly" warning is posted in the subject line, and the picture is at worst, "R-rated." "X-rated" pictures, sites, or links are and will remain strictly against the rules.

    6. Avatars or Signatures

Please ensure that your signature is not excessively long, or contain large images. Avatars and Signatures both fall under the no porn rule. Signature tests and avatar tests will be allowed in "Forum Discussion" forum.

Links to other websites and or businesses are not permitted in member signatures unless the member is a Supporting Vendor.

Negative comments about Supporting Vendors in signatures is not permitted and will be promptly removed by a moderator.

    7. Free Posts

"Free posts", or posting solely for the purpose of boosting your post count is not allowed outside of the general discussion forums. Many people judge member's credibility based on post count, so we ask that you obtain your post count legitimately in the technical area or Regional forums.

    8. Posting in Appropriate Forums

Please post your topics in the most appropriate forum (i.e., tech threads only in tech forums). If you post a thread that would be more appropriate in another forum, a moderator will move it for you. However, please do not make the moderators do this for you. Use your judgment to determine which forum best suits your topic. If you are dealing with a TECHNICAL topic and it could appropriately fit in more than one forum, you may post it in multiple forums. Cross posting should be held to a maximum of 2 forums.

    9. Controversial Topics

Controversial topics, such as religion, abortion, retardation, racism, etc., will NOT be allowed. Although these topics usually start out civilly enough, experience has shown that these sorts of topics invariably disintegrate into all out flame wars and heated arguments.

    10. Drugs

Threads/replies promoting illicit drugs/narcotics will not be allowed.

    11. Illegal Activities

Threads/replies encouraging other illegal/unethical action (like "Best way to kill neighbor's dog?") will not be allowed. This also includes threads about using and/or obtaining illegal copies of copyrighted material such as software, music, videos, and sharing registration and license keys of copyrighted material.

    12. Poop/Violence/Sex Threads

"Poop" threads or similarly immature and offensive topics (graphic sex, specific sex act, violence, snuff films or violent sexual acts) will not be allowed.

    13. Trolling

"Trolling", or makings posts with the sole intention of creating problems on the forums is obviously against the forum guidelines. This includes registering an alternate ID for the sole purpose of creating problems on the forums. "Troll ID's" will be locked immediately and permanently, and can be locked without notification to the offender.

    14. ModularFords.com Bashing

Threads/replies attacking ModularFords.com and its policies will not be allowed.

    15. Posting Harmful URL's

Any Member of the ModularFords.com site that posts malicious or harmful URL links that cause:

    • other Member’s PCs to become locked or have to be rebooted in order for the PC to regain functionality (Like the link to the "You're an idiot" page that ends up spawning countless little browser windows dancing all over your screen)

    • “screaming”, (cannot be viewed safely for content or sound at work)

    • Links that add another forum member to your ignore list.

    16. Supporting Vendor Bashing

Our Supporting Vendors deserve respect and restraint. Attacking a sponsor on the board is strictly prohibited. If you have a complaint with a sponsor, you may send the information directly to an Administrator and it will be passed directly to the Sponsor for action or resolution. If you do post on the board about a specific problem involving a sponsor, please remain calm and state the facts. Do not let emotion cloud the issue at hand. When your thread is read by a moderator, the moderator will do the following:
    A) Lock the thread and place a copy of the thread in the Moderator Forum OR the Sponsor Forum. These forums are not visible to the members but I assure you they do exist.

    B) Reply to the locked thread that (A) has taken place.

    C) The moderator or Administrator will update the locked thread with the response from the Sponsor OR the Sponsor will contact you directly.

We really hope situations can be resolved off-line but we will not prohibit a statement of fact BUT we will control the thread so as to stop the “Hate” or “Me too” replies these threads often generate.

If the situation resolution seems to be totally unacceptable or completely ignored, you should contact the Board owner directly with your situation.

    17. Attacking Forum Moderators

Posting a thread or reply to question or criticize moderator or administrator actions is not appropriate in a public forum. Please utilize the board's Private Message function, or e-mail, if you wish to discuss these issues. As long as you bring up your concerns maturely and civilly to the moderator or administrator in question, we will do our best to address your concerns fairly and promptly.
Here are the "Do's" and "Don'ts" of addressing your concerns to moderators or administrators:

"Do" be civil and polite. Bring up your concerns in a mature and respectful manner. If you are contacting us because you violated forum guidelines, be adult enough to admit your mistake. If your ID has been locked for some reason, talking politely to us about it in private, via e-mail or private message, can get your ID reinstated in many cases.

"Do not" be derogatory or insulting towards us. You will not get what you want by name calling or bashing us.

All we ask is that you treat us the way you would want us to treat you. If you treat us with respect, we will do the same for you.

    18. Classified Policies

#1 - You must own what you are selling. Do not post ads for friends.

#2 - You must list a price. "OBO" is acceptable provided you sell the item to someone that offers the listed price. Correct selling etiquette would be reserving the product to the first person that posts in the thread and offers the minimum posted price. A PM is not an offer for an item as it negates the purpose of the public thread. Any thread NOT listing a price will be deleted by the moderators.

#3 - There is absolutely no bidding allowed.

Going offline and using e-mail to conduct bidding is unacceptable. Prices must be listed. No "best offer" posts without a minimum price.
#4 - No retail sales! Supporting Vendors pay to advertise here. If you wish to sell retail items on ModularFords.com, you must become a Supporting Vendor!

#5 - Links to eBay auctions are OK in this forum provided the following guidelines are followed:

    • The thread heading or subject line must clearly state it concerns an eBay auction. Subject line should look something like this: 2003 SVT Cobra On E-bay or Set of 2000 Cobra R wheelss on E-bay

    • Post ONLY your auction links. No listing for a friend or "Look what I saw on E-bay" type posts.

    • Do your bidding on eBay, not here. If a member has an item on eBay but has a FIRM price for ModularFords.com members that he will take before the auction ends, that would be okay to post in the threads body.

#6 - Firearms or related items are not allowed to be offered on this site.

In order to protect this site from Federal problems we cannot allow the selling, trading, or buying of any gun or weapon related items.
There are federal laws on the shipping of firearms to other states and certain licenses are required. Rather than trying to verify the presence of these licenses, we have stopped all ads for this type of item.

Thank you for your understanding of our position

#7 - No “Gauging Interest” posts. Either you want to sell the item or you don’t. These types of for sale posts wind up being too close to an auction.

That's about it. Just use your common sense and don't abuse the board by filling it up with E-bay auctions. Remember, the Classified forum was created to hook-up other ModularFords.com members to sell and find parts with-in our community.

    19. ModularFords.com site Communications

Using the ModularFords.com e-mail link or the ModularFords.com PM process to send threats of violence, racial attacks, or sexually harassing messages is prohibited.
Anyone that feels they are a victim of this problem should immediately contact a moderator or a site administrator for assistance. DO NOT DELETE THE MESSAGE(S) Please keep the offending message(s) on hand so that you can forward them to the Administrator, as evidence, for action against the perpetrator.

    General Dos and Don'ts
If you violate forum guidelines, in most cases, you can expect the following action from the moderators/administrators:

    1. First offense- warning via private message, e-mail, and/or moderator reply in the offending thread.

    2. Second offense- 3-day lock of your account.

    3. Subsequent offense- longer account locks, possibly permanent.

Please realize that the nature of the offense will determine the action to be taken. If the violation is extreme enough, or has been repeated enough times in the past, a member can have his/her account locked without a warning.

Threads or replies that do not comply with our guidelines may be locked, edited, or deleted, depending on the nature of the offense. We will make every effort to state why such action was taken via private message, e-mail, and/or moderator reply in the offending thread. For this reason, we ask that you check your private messages often. You can find out whether or not you have received any private messages by logging into your user CP. You can set your options so that the board notifies you when you have received a private message, if you so desire.

The above rules and guidelines are necessary to make ModularFords.com’s forums comfortable and enjoyable for automotive enthusiasts. If you feel you can not comply with the rules above, please refrain from using ModularFords.com’s forums.

    Thank you,

    ModularFords.com Staff
