94 MK VIII Teksid into 67 Fairlane

I recently acquired my 67 Fairlane and shortly thereafter a 94 MK VIII with high miles but in running condition. I've read about some similar swaps on the forum but none specific to the 67 Fairlane. I'm in the research and planning phase now.
The donor runs ok but has 214,xxx miles. Planning to rebuild at least the top end and timing set. Considering bottom end honing, bearings, etc. Planning to use as much as possible from the Lincoln.

You should consider the supercharged version of the engine. The 281 cubic inch n/a version of the engine is a 300 to 350 hp engine with tuning and mods with weak torque but good rpm capabilities. In a car like a 67 Fairlane t would produce a disappointing performance in n/a form.
I definitely considered a blower... May still install one in the future. I'm really looking for decent power for cruising with decent mileage. The Lincoln gets about 23 MPG highway so I expect the "exceptional aerodynamics" of the Fairlane, I may get around 20. Reliability is wanted as well. I'm torn between higher compression pistons for improved n/a power, and keeping the compression a little lower for potential supercharging later. Decisions, decisions...
I actually found a Facebook post for an 03 cobra drivetrain ( motor with supercharger and trans) last night... Had my wife message them and they replied this morning. Asked me to call an 800 number, which I did. Overseas based "parts locator" company. Of course. Had to be to good to be true...
Does anyone have a source for a complete rebuild kit for the 32 valve? I'm finding lots of partial kits but they don't include something or other. Need gaskets, timing set, lifters, probably followers, pistons ( Forged), and bearings. Thanks.
I actually sold my 351 core last weekend to a guy who owns a machine shop for a couple hundred bucks and credit at his shop.... He's going to clean up the block and hone it, etc. So I guess I'm doing the bottom end too. Looking at Forged internals. Rods, pistons at least. Probably going flat top as well. Would cobra cams from a 2003 DOHC fit in my heads?
I don’t know about the 2003 Cobra cams, I used some from an 01.
There are two other companies that make performance cams for this engine if you don’t mind dropping an additional 2 grand
That's exactly the issue... Found some 03 cobra cams for $300...

Score! I found a cobra intake manifold, intake and filter, throttle body, and IMRC deletes on FB. I don't have an account for FB, so I had my wife message the seller and they're willing to ship it to me. Got a heckuva deal.

I went with a 94 Mark VIII setup at first in my 63 Fairlane. I used the stock wiring with it's PCM, put in a Moates Quarter Horse, IMRC deletes,l swapped to Cobra heads, cams and intake, Long tubes. With the factory Mark pistons and the B heads, you have a 9.9:1 compression ratio. That's 10:1 basically which is great. Once I put all the cobra stuff on, I thought it was a dog still. Swapping to the Holley Terminator X Max to control it was the best think I did. It doesn't play around with the IMRC crap that I deleted. It really woke the car up. I did end up putting a V3 Si vortech on it too. Plenty of power to go around with only 5psi. The Lincoln is a heavy car. Probably heavier than the fairlane you have. It'll get around and you have tons of aftermarket stuff out there for them now that the Coyote is the hot thing everyone wants. We get their parts they throw out View attachment 176272
because of their new found fettish.
Looks like you completely removed your shock towers? How much room did your stock engine bay have compared to my 67? Thanks for sharing. Sweet ride.

Yes, I run a Rod and Customs "Mustang II" style front end. I have seen a K member setup with heavily shaved shock towers fit a 4V DOHC between them but that's still a small bay like mine. You have more but how much? I don't know. Get out the tape measure and start looking up engine dimensions. But don't fear the power. They work and are very efficient as well. Sound good too!
I measured 29" between shock towers. Motor is 30" wide so I'm hoping I'll be able to just notch my towers enough... All while keeping the stock UCA with the Shelby drop. I think it's doable...
Are these the cams I want? Can someone check the part numbers in the photos? Want to ensure I don't get suckered into Lincoln cams like I already have.

Those cams are both used and also use 10mm fastener hardware. If you are intent on using the 03/04 Cobra cams, I have a brand new set, never run, that have been drilled and tapped for 1/2 x 13, 8740 ARP 12-point bolts that I'll sell for the same $300 price. ARP specs the torque on a 10mm 8740 fastener as 62 ft/lbs. The ARP spec on the 1/2 inch 8740 bolt is 125 ft/lbs. Ford specs the torque on their 10mm TTY single-use fasteners at 30 ft/lbs plus 90˚ of additional rptation. The ARP fasteners are reusable the FRPP fasteners are not. The cams will need both the ARP bolts and four ARP washers that are 0.275" thick. Both the 12 point bolts and washers are standard off-the-shelf ARP items available through Summit. Let me know what you would like to do.
Thanks for the offer... I thought the 03-04 cobra cams were the same as the stock Lincoln cams.... This posting is for 96-98, which , I thought, were a little hotter. Am I mistaken?
You are not.

The 96-98 cams have a longer duration intake cam and the same duration exhaust cam.

I misread the post. Apologies for the false alarm.
So, then I do want these, correct? Can you confirm they are the correct part numbers? Thanks again.
In the 03/04 SVT Cobra Forum, check in the TToC under the Engine heading, and you will find a posting named Cam and Valve Timing Spreadsheet by yours truly. When you open it up, you will find almost all the Ford Modmotor cams, their nomenclature, their specs, and their part numbers. There are also a number of aftermarket cams listed. The Ford part numbers change a whisker across the years, but you should be able to identify the cams easily from the data there. NA/SVT was good enough to share some Cam Doctor specs he had personally collected for several of the cams listed. Where he did, I have noted it.
I was able to confirm the part numbers and bought them... Thanks again. I'm sure I'll have more questions in the near future.

New book arrived yesterday. Already about halfway through reading it... Answers a lot of questions and concerns I had. Confirmed for me I can fit the Teksid into the Fairlane with only notching the shock towers. I'd recommend it to anyone considering this kind of swap.
Getting tired of not being able to work on my own projects and might go ahead and pull the Lincoln into the shop this weekend and start pulling the motor...

I bought that this year but haven't been thru it yet. I'm going to dig it out and it'll be my night time reading.
It's an easy read. He doesn't get super technical and lose you... Dumbs it down to my level.

Cobra cams showed up today in the mail. Haven't even opened the package yet... Working on leveling a new storage unit next to the shop so I can move some stuff over to make more room for the big old 4v motor tear down.

Those early Cobra intake cams are worth some power.
That's the idea... Also trying to get the cobra intake if the guy would reply...
Still waffling back and forth whether or not I want to go with the Forged cobra crank or stick with the cast piece.
cast crank should be fine for NA. Forged might be better for boost.
Not planning on boost right away, but thinking I might like to add it later, thus my contemplating the Forged Crank. I'd rather do it right once.
