Wow,

Thanks for saving this extremly well written and informative article! Much thanks to Dave for putting this article together as well as all others involved!

Very nice!

Naz
Great write up..... Anyone know where I can find one like that for 05+
I assume you mean putting a 4R70W into an 05? Or building a 5R55S?

If its 4R70W, I can give you some pointers.
Ive got a built 4R70W and Iam going to be putting it in an 06 gt. It has a 3650 in it now so I went with a manual valve body.

Since you have the manual PCM, you won't need to do much, if anything.

The car I worked on had a stand alone TCM from PCS ( I think that is right ). It had software that you used to setup the shift / lock schedule. It worked great.
What about the cross member do I have to get a different 1? And drive shaft can I just change the flat flange to a slip yoke?

I am getting ready to do this to my cobra, would you guys suggest a manual or fully auto valve body>? are there any pros/cons to it at all either way? i like the idea of still shifting, but i dont like the idea of being able to accidentally shift into overdrive and destroy the tranny.

I like the manual valve body. Most of us have our o/d on a toggle switch so you cant' really "accidentally" shift into o/d.
anyone know why my overdrive switch isnt working? I want to put a switch there because i want to put a B&M shifter in there but if i cant turn overdrive off my tranny will blow up under high boost launches. Anyone if they have diagrams for it that would be awesome
Look at Dave King's article that Eric has reposted, the wiring diagram is in there.
thanks i did, i just wanted to know if anyone knew why it wasnt working.
4r70w

Let me get this straight a stock 4r70w is rated at 700 tq? so a stock one should hold on just fine if you arent making those torque numbers?

a stock 4r70w After 99 (2000+) will handle it, anything pre 2000 will need to have better parts put in it.
You'll need a trans cooler with a fan to keep the temp down.

+1 ill be running a 10"x20"x1.5" thick trans cooler, with a 10" fan :)
Synthetic fluid and a deep pan too?
I'm a little confused regarding the 2003/2004 cobra computer. I understand that the terminators didn't come with an auto trans, but is there a way to wire it up anyway? I have a FULL 4r70w setup (harness, sensors, everything) and I would like to use it with my 04 cobra motor, and 04 cobra computer. I don't want to lose the IAT1 and the MAP sensor, etc. Great article btw.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!
sorry, your going to need a auto mach 1 computer
Actually you can use a trans controller and keep the cobra EEC. I plan to use the Baumannator with their wiring harness for the 4R70W i have built for my setup. There are other choices of controllers like Compushift and Powertrain control systems.
