Look at the transmission connector on the passenger side of the unit. There should be a 10 pin connector "D" shaped. Do you have the wiring harness to control the tranny? SHoot me your e-mail address and the shape of the tranny connector and I can send you a wiring diagram.

well obviously.. lol. it needs to be there for me to drive the car :)
still waiting on that email on how to wire this manual lockup switch
Ken makes a plate that will fix you right up...
Ken, are you still making those plates?
Lol don't even bother man. I sent him a billion emails and never got anywhere.
Guess I'll have to have someone else make it! Anyone else interested? Could probably do brushed aluminum, painted aluminum, or maybe even carbon fiber
I am interested.
does anyone have a link or downloaded the files with all the wire diagrams? (that were in the writeup) if so could you please send them to [email protected]

Thanks.
couldnt stop reading, great article!!!!!!!!!!!!
what tranny cooler are you guys running and where is it mounted? Especially guys with twins.
I'm coming in on this thread a bit late and cant poss. read the whole thing. Ive done a few of these and can help a bit. drop me a PM. I have 2 4R70W's with manual valve body and trans brake for sale w/ shaft and everything you need. They are used very little but I guarantee them to work and operate like new. $4500 each complete w. torque converter too. let me know. Both have Overdrive as well.
Has anyone had any luck with a 4R70W, stock IRS and a GT Auto Driveshaft with the IRS flange on it?

I think it may work, but I still have yet to put the pinion on and bolt it all up. I just wanted to know if anyone has had luck before I pull the u joint and such. Or I just need to order a new shaft.

Well after giving it a try tonight, DOES NOT WORK. Turns out the auto drive shaft utilizes a smaller u joint than the factory t56 flange.

Most people use the stock 03-04 Cora driveshaft and swap out the front yoke with the 4r you using a hybrid 1350 to 1330 u-joint, then retain the 1350 u-joint on the rear with the IRS flange. You could probably do the same thing with the auto GT driveshaft just using the hybrid 1350 to 1330 u-joint at the rear so you can utilize the stock IRS flange on the driveshaft.
So I'm guessing an auto equipped mach 1 or gt's computer will pull the trans out of OD at even high speeds since this trans cannot take much power in od? I'm asking because I'm sure there's plenty of stout 2v gt's and mach1's with blowers or nitrous that get into some high speed runs with supras, vettes, and such. and they too would hurt their tranny's?

For you guys running at the drag strip who employ a lock-up function on their 4r70w's with a manual valve body, do you guys just go through the gears as usual and lock up in third after the 2-3 up-shift, or do you just leave it unlocked?

Also if you were going at a pretty high speed, "say over 100mph" you still couldn't floor it in od? I can see why you wouldn't want to floor it in od at city speeds, but a higher speeds, I wwould think it would be OK?

How much for the baumanator controler with harness and tuning supplys?
4R70 & Baumannator

For a fully auto setup, the Baumannator offers great control and comes with a few files tuned for the Cobra. Check the Baumann engineering site for pricing and all the support items.
As far as WOT in OD; I don't believe the 4R70W will stand up to that level of power.

I got rid of my T56 shaft when I sold the swap, but my new swap came with the GT Auto Shaft.

I was able to take the GT Auto Shaft to a local driveline place, they cut 1 inch off the shaft and used one of the conversion joints you mentioned to put the IRS flange on. It work perfect, fits great. I think We used a shaft length of 45inches, and with the flanged on it gave us the length we needed. That was a few weeks ago so I may have the exact numbers a little off.
