It's been a while since I posted about this project because it was a bit slow to start. Thought I would share the progress with you guys.

A local customer contacted me several months back about working on his Eleanor project. He had already acquired a 68 Mustang in decent shape. We discussed power plants and determined a low mileage 03/04 Cobra engine would be suitable for the power goals. A totaled 2004 Cobra was found at Mustang Parts Specialties. It was totally stock, not abused, and had 25,000 miles on the clock. Everything we needed for the swap was on the car, and most importantly the wiring harness and all modules were intact.

Once we got the cars in our possession, we weren't very happy with the underhood body work that had been done so we immediately striped, welded, grinded, fiberglass'd, and primed the area. From there we have been test fitting and modifying things to make it all work together.

The plan is to leave the engine internally stock, add a 3.4L Whipple, 80#/hr injectors, and a Magnafuel 750 pump in a returnstyle configuration with a sumped tank. We are retaining the Ford factory fuel injection. We are using a fully built 1,000 RWHP capable 4R70W from BC Automotive, along with a Torque Convertor from Circle D Specialties. A TCM from TCI will control the shifting.

We have retained the factory A/C coupled with a kit from Classic Auto Air. Picked up a digital dash from Dakota Digital, and also got their cruise control module.

We have a long way to go before having a finished project, but we plan on having it fired up in the next 3 weeks.

Keep you guys posted.

Pulled the engine out tonight. We are making a few more modifications to the underhood area. We were able to notch the frame and lower the radiator in order to use the factory Cobra coolant tanks. Gonna get it painted, drop the engine back in, and finish her up! More pics coming soon.
