John Mihovetz just called me to tell me that he finally got in the 6's. His 2001 Accufab Cougar ran a 6.99 @ 201. He went [email protected] in the 1/8 and 1.14 60 foot. This was accomplished in Arizona where its 6000 feet above sea level for the density altitute. He still has one qualifying run left (he's running some pro street race I've never heard of)

This has been a great month for SHM race cars. Congratulations also to Johns sponsors that have stuck by him to make history which include Probe Industries, Sean Hyland Motorsports, Precision Turbo, and Royal Purple.

I saw him running at the track this past thur at one of our local 1/8th miles. I wanted to shoot pics of that cougar but my batteries in the cam were dead.

There must of been 50+ standing around that car at all times. He was pitted no more then 65 feet from me.

Congrats :king

John called me late last night and told me he backed his 6.99 up with a 6.94 @ 202 mph. John not only set the record to be first in the 6's but he also set a record to be the first to 200 mph in drag racing.

Many people have emailed me and asked what John Mihovetz's setup consists of. John has a 2001 Drag chassis Cougar. He runs a SHM Long block in the car, Hogan intake, twin 77 turbos from Precision Turbo, a 5 speed Lenco transmission, SHM Stage 2 cams, 83 pound injectors, Electromotive Tech II, Air to water intercooler and an Accel Datalogger. John weighs in at 2497 with driver.

That is impressive. I would bet it is one the only, if not the only, car in the 6's and over 200 mph that still uses factory parts. Not to many production blocks and heads from any make that can do that. My only question is how the hell does he get away with 83# injectors???

Finally a six second pass for a modular and over 200 mph too. Tremendous power and durability.

I would like to thank some of the people responsible for this achievement.

Sean Hyland Motorsport. Great engine 60+ passes between 7.40 and 6.94. Unbelievable and driven to the staging lanes and back from the scales every pass. In fact the car has only been towed once. I don't think anyone in Pro or Outlaw has done that.
Simply the best modular engines available.

Mickey Thompson Tires.
Electromotive engine controls.
Denso spark plugs.
Lamb components.
Lenco transmissions.
76 Racing fuels.
Precision Turbo.
Crower clutches.
Autometer Instruments.
California Custom Paint shop.
Borla Exhaust Components.
TRD (Toyota RacingDevelopment) yes, I did say that

Additionally I would like to thank the following individuals.

Crew chief Donnie Matter

Internet communications specialist Dave King

Wiring, Advanced Engineering West Mark Sanchez

And the whole group of friends and racers that we race with.

Randy Haywood, Reggie Burnette, John and Mike Tymenski, Chris Kaufmann, George Klass, Harry Hruska, Shaun Carlson, Abel Ibarra, Bob Molinari, Ron Piasecki.

And lastly, my family who has supported me and put up with all of the long hours away from home.

only 2.5 years later and he is finally quicker. Now all we need to know is how much he weighed. Then we can calc the HP

Either way congradulations on the first 6 sec pass. Imagine how fast you could go with my engine

201/245 = .820 x .820 x .820 = .551 x 2497 = 1376 hp. NOT BAD.

I guess I will have to think about putting something together

Actually - I am installing my engine in the Lincoln LS. As I said earlier this year we are going for a landspeed record. I think we can go 254 to 260 detuned to about 1400hp.
