This may not be big to you quick dudes...but I've been tryin my ass off to get this

Here is the rundown

1.845
7.861
94.36mph
12.142
116.90mph

1.763
7.790
91.01mph
12.062
116.40mph

1.821
7.848
90.95mph
12.123
116.29mph

1.771
7.792
93.52mph
12.068
116.79mph

1.787
7.772
91.86mph
12.007
117.36mph

Of course by this time I'm ready to run my car into the river

What is up with the 1/8th mile MPH??? Shifted around 6600 each time??? Makes no sense to me

And then

1.788
7.725
95.01mph
11.956
118.06mph

Whohoo! Congrats. What was the temp? Did it cool off at the track by the time you made your last run?

Major milestone that many have not yet achieved, myself included!

Good job, I had my best run (non-nitrous) last night also. Too bad my launch is so inconsistent....

0.562
1.770
4.981
7.690
92.61mph
11.715
117.43mph

That time I had an awesome launch but shifted early in each gear because I had my shift light unplugged and I didn't want to hit the rev limiter.

Congrats Randy!

The 1/8 mph depend on 3 things,

3) good crisp shifts, especially the 2-3,
2) Holding 3rd past the 1/8 (not hard to do since 3rd at 6000 RPM is 96-99 depending on the loaded radius of whatever tire you are on). AND the number 1 reason your 1/8 mile is F'ed...

You got a great 60 ft by bogging the shit out of the car on line with those sticky BFG's (or ET streets).

For the best ET's you need a good 60 ft with no bog. I have had better ET's with runs that had a worse 60 ft due to a lack of a bog.

So JT are you saying you should not hold out 3rd past the 1/8? I have heard Broke7 and Stangd281 say they are in 4th just at or after the 1/8 marker on a great pass. I couldnt tell ya how early or late I was in 4th on my 11.38 pass, but this is def. something I can look to do whatever is best?

I said to hold it past the 1/8, 3rd should be good to 100 mph or more depending on the rev limiter.

I hold just pass the 1/8th on a good pass, but in all reality it seems as your shifting at the 1/8th with the speed. Depends on where you shift as well

Congrats on the 11 second pass, it sure feels good to have a monkey off your back. Big accomplishment!!

I usually hold 3rd until 6200, but on the last pass I shifted about 6000. I also have 3.73's. I think the 3.55's might actually be a better racing gear in these cars.

JT's point about no bog I think is dead on. Didn't realize you had 3.73 gears! I don't know about 3.55 being a better racing gear (especially 1/8th mile) because I noticed only a .30 loss in ET when I MISSED 3rd on my 1/8th track. In other words, all runs were in the 7.5x range, missed 3rd on one run and went through the lights and the clocks lit up a 7.88. Not in 3rd very long w/ 26" slicks and 3.55 gears that is for sure. Now 4:10 gears w/ 28" slicks (or maybe 3.90 gears), that would be interesting!

stlblack03,
I believe i know why your mph was high on several of your runs,go check all your timeslip runs that night and see if all your high mph runs in the 1/8 mile were made in the same lane and your slower ones were all made in the same lane i would bet they were.I have seen on many occassions where the mph clocks are not calculated correctly for both lanes at several different tracks. There was one track i went to that if you went in the left lane my mph was 3mph higher everytime than the right lane with the same ET.There was another track that i know where some friends of mine were running 112mph plus in there Lightning but when they raced at other tracks they could only run 108-109 at best in the same conditions.

AH HA

Right Lane 1/8th

93.52
94.36
95.01

Left Lane 1/8th

91.01
91.86
90.95

So now which one is correct? Either way...looks like I'm running in the right lane from now on :)

I knew i was right:king LOL On a more serious note in all honesty i believe the left lane is most likely correct. They go more with your 1/4 mile mph times. This is why i do not get really excited when people post huge mph numbers when most likely it is the mph clocks that are not calculated correctly. The best time to get a true number is right after a national or big event like a NMRA or Funford event because they always recalculate the mph clocks before a big event so they will be dead on.By the way congrats on your new best!
