Just registered because I know there is a lot of knowledge to be had over here..

I just put it a new pilot bearing and in the process of putting it in I scratched the crap out of the front of the bearing. I know this just stabilizes the end of the input shaft, but does the face of it do anything? Should I change it or will it be fine??

As long as none of the roller bearings were damaged and the race hasn't been deformed to the extent that it impedes the bearings operation you should be fine.

Just the front "face" was damaged. None of the "important" were touched. Im paranoid about parts like these... but damn was it a pain gettin the old one out. Used the old bread trick.
