Just finished installing a 3650 tremec swap from a t-45. The swap included a 03 cobra 11 inch clutch kit which has an aluminum flywheel. The 3650 was out of a 01-03 GT. The car it went into was a 2000 GT with a 01 cobra motor. The clutch fork was reused from the T-45. The tranny is a direct bolt-in. The problem is the the clutch will not release. The fork doesnt have the same rate of travel as it did before the swap. What I dont understand is that if this is a direct swap.......minus the 03 cobra clutch kit......is that what is causing this? The car had the stock 11 inch cobra kit on it. Inspection of the the 2 kits showed the 03 cobra kit had one more spring on the clutch disk......and the pressure plate fingers were alittle bit flatter. Do we need a 03 cobra clutch fork? a different throw out bearing? We put an adjustable cable to see if we could get more throw outta the arm but now it just bottoms out on the bellhousing.....it will disengage but is right at the floor. To me it seems that the fork needs different geometry. We noticed it right after getting the trans up in the hole. The fork was more forward in its inspection window. Before install the clutch fork pivot ball was inspected and greased. The fork was also inspected.......are there 2 different forks for the 3650 and t-45? Any assistance would be great.........
