My cousin just bought a 2003 Mach 1. It has been broken in correctly.
He decided to take it to the track with me this past weekend.

He is still very causious of racing it. I don't want him to mess anything up
either. We were wondering what the shift points were for this car.

He was running 14.8 sec 1/4 mile times. It was his first time ever to race.
Mine too. I have heard that you don't nessisarily want to rev V8 motors
to thier redlines to achieve the most power/speed in the 1/4.

I know how to get approximate shift points by comparing the HP/Torque
curves from Dyno charts, and using the gear ratios. But I'm having problems
finding decent charts.

We were also told to run without Traction Control.
Is this correct. Makes sence.

Thanks for any help.

First time. Plan to go again. Hope to Break into the 14.8 - 15.0 sec. range.
I REALLY HOPE TO HELP MY COUSIN'S MACH 1 ACHIVE 14.0 SEC IN 1/4 MILE

run without the traction control, mash the gas and shift somewhere around 6600 rmps. You should be somewhere in the 13's with that car if it's a stick and you can hit in the 12's with et's.

I'm sorry if my question seems trivial to you.
My car takes very little to drive well. It makes
all of its power at the top end, so that all you
have to do is shift at redline each and every time.

However, not all motors make their power in
the higher RPMs. I know of three cars in particular,
a '94 Mustang GT and a '97 Firebird WS6 and a
'98 Nissan Maxima, that are all over a second faster
in the quarter mile when you shift them 1~2 K RPM
before redline.

I have never viewed the dyno charts from a new
Mach 1. I would like to if anyone has them.
That is mainly my question. I can figure the rest
out with the information that I need.

The times I posted were from my cousin's first time
to ever run at the track. He loves his car and didn't
want to trash it. He didn't take it past 6K.
This is most likely the cause for his lower 1/4 mile time.
I just wanted to make sure that the quickest times
can be attained by reaching redline, or shifting sooner.
I realize this a slow time, but it was also his first.

I would like to see a horsepower & torque curve of
this motor, along with these specs I can figure out
the shift points. Thank you.
