I want to get everyones opinion on what is the BEST long tube headers for the 03 Cobra. I have a set of BBK 1 5/8 that I know will be to small when I get to the 800 HP that I am after.

Kooks or American racing...

American Racing = Great headers, BUT, and that's a BIG BUT, they put the front O2 sensors in the WRONG place for the '99-'04 Mustang. Take a look for yourself:

Sorry, but that sh!t don't cut it for tuning. WTF were they thinking???

If you purchase these headers, it's imperative that you move the O2 bungs into the collectors. I'm not quite sure why they continue to produce them like this. Maybe someone can show them this (tho I'd imagine it's already been brought up).

Maybe I should have asked the question differently. WHAT SIZE? the 1 3/4 or the 1 7/8. Everything I have seen shows the 1 7/8 is the best. I know I may loose a little on the bottom but the top gain looks to overshadow the low side.

BLAH!

I didn't know that! I have a set of OLD Kooks with the 02's like that. Trying to tune was a joke, I moved them shizzles down to the collector and was 8712398749274 x better

American Racing here...

I have the kooks, they fit well and don't leak.

I have always been afraid of long tubes. I was under the impression to remove the tranny you have to remove the headers. Seems like a headache for the HP you get. By the way what type of gains are you guys seeing from them.

my car came with BBK from the previous owner, but if i had to choose another set KOOKS all the way. know two people who have them and they are by far the best sounding headers.

Quality. Fit, finish, welds ect. The Kooks are also Stainless, not sure on the Macs...

I just bought a set of kooks cant wait to get them in over winter. On a side note any retuning necessary when going to LT's ? Mods in my sig. Sorry for the hijack.

I would have it checked, sometimes depending on o2 location, changes o2 switch time are needed.

Yeah i just have some other tuning needs that need to get done as well but not sure it will be all ready to go at the same time. Ill check it on the street befor and after via my wide band. If it looks wacky ill hit the dyno Thanks for the heads up

I have BBK's and think that they are good for what you pay for them. Whenever I have the money I plan on doing a full stainless works system because my current set up with a bbk off road x pipe and stingers is REALLY loud

I am going to say the ARH will have better ground clearance then the kooks. I know mine tuck up extremely well and I have not touched them once and I am lowered on coilovers and have had the car low enough that I would touch the inner fender on decent bumps. Hit the k-member a few times and scraped it, but the headers are untouched.

My vote is for them, have the 02 sensor location moved, I had mine put in the collector. I have run Macs on mine also and they were good, but ARH is much nicer. BBK's have been run on my brothers Mach 1 and they are so so, wouldn't run them again.

Adam get a retune, you will need adjustment for the cold idle(transfer delay function for the 02's???) and probably some Air fuel tweaks. Try Eric or Lund this time :tip:
