thats a hard decision, the saleen will handle better and may get more looks, plus it may be more rare. You will be able to achieve more hp/tq from a GT500 though with mods... I dunno, that is a hard decision. Both are sweet!

I'd go for the Saleen, as well. I like the looks 10 times better, and it rates high on the rarity scale. If it was a Supersnake or GT500KR, I may go that route, but between the regular 500, it's Saleen ftw!

 

GT500!! Cheaper and more potiential

 

The saleen extreme and gt500 are almost dead equal in a race from 40-120, Ive seen this race. Get the gt500, more potential as others have mentioned and its just flat out more badass than the extreme

 

Any fool in his right mind, of course would take the GT500...

you can get new GT500's for sticker +5K.

Ask yourself, do you want a GT mustang with a 4.6L built motor and a blower...saleen's basic suspension, DUBZ and 15" brakes.

or do you want a 5.4L cobra with a blower and built motor. Typical ford suspension 18s and 14" brembo's.

 

I saw the GT 500 in drop top form for $59,xxx. I thought that was fair considering the hard tops were usually marked up to that.

 

The extreme is going to be a collectors car one day where the GT500 is said to have more produced than the terminators.

 

My only thing is this.. When I bought my first Saleen Mustang in 88 I was happy... 5 years later I wanted a 93 Cobra.. Kelly Bluebook did not list a Saleen Mustang, and my VIN number was an LX.. WTF?

Like all Saleens, they are given a GT VIN number..

However, a GT500 has a GT500 VIN number.. Cause it was built on the assmebly line at Ford.. Where as the Saleen was built at Ford as a GT, and shipped to Saleen for a conversion package..

When you buy a GT500, your buying a GT500... When you buy a Saleen, your buying a GT, with Saleen add-ons..

Dont get me wrong.. I love Steve Saleen! I'll never forget how much leg I got at the tender age of 18 because of the Black on Black #635, pimped out with some 18" Pro Series Rockford Fosgates ran in series under the hatch, Pushin a bridged Hifonics Zeus to 900WATTS.. Poundin!!
