Will that pulley combo overspin the eaton? Yes. But, that doesn't mean the eaton is going to break.

There is a good amount of people running a combo like that. Most seem to prefer the 2.93 and 6lb lower. There have been a few post's about seized blowers. But for the most part, the eaton holds up well.

 

I think 15-16psi is all your gonna get for peak HP #'s which is a a good 2.7 upper, or in my case 3.1 Upper & 4lb Lower. You can spin the ole heaton faster, but it seems you will give up peak #'s. I think the happy medium, at least for me is on the 15-17psi range.

 

Just wanting to know if 18 PSI on an Apten will over spin the blower at higher RPM . Have gotten a lot of different opinion's . Have a 2.8 upper and wanting to put a 4lb Metco lower with a custom tune .

I know someone that has that combo......He ran 11.8 with it, funny thing is on the mustang dyno it only made 380hp, it was building to much heat (in fl) but his torque was like 520. Some mad number like that. His whole 11 sec run was the 1st half of the track cause according to the dyno it falls off really fast as the heat builds up!!!!!!:beerchug:

 

(Great info) I'm running 14PSI now with a custom tune exhaust cold air ported blower as well as we rounded the outer edges of the rotor's on the blower which when tested gave it a 95% effiency nothing on the lower end but could tell on the top end . andvanced timming to 22 degrees air fuel right on . Spoke to the guy's a Metco and Steeda they said the max you want to go is 22PSI so I thought I 'd stay around 18 .

 

I agree with everyone else here. 18psi is overspinning the Eaton for sure, but I am no one to talk I have the 2.8/4lb combo with an 80 shot of N2O. Elevation is my friend for now, but not for long.......:angel:

 

Where is the best place to pick up the lower pulley setup?

 

We ran our car at 20 psi with a 3.0 upper and 8lb lower and we would see it drop off to 18psi. We also had cams in the car so the car probably would have made more boost but still I think it would drop to 18 or so. On nitrous and with an 4R70W automatic the car has ran a 10.0 and a handfull between 10.1 and 10.3.

So Am I safe to assume that 18 PSi with a good tunr is about the max. Also what do you recomend to help cool the air to prevent the Eaton for heating up to much.
