Noisy Injector?

How loud can they be? Is it a sign of failure? My #3 injector gets fairly loud if it is indeed the noise I am hearing, more so once it warms up to operating temp. The car takes a fraction longer to start on cold mornings which makes me think injector issue.

When I first heard it I expected "the tick" but after using a heater hose to listen for the sound. I think it is coming from the injector. I can clearly hear every injector's pulse with the hose, but #3 is way more pronounced.

Surprised I haven't got more feedback yet. I have read every post regarding "the tick" and every post that contained the words "noisy injector". The noise I hear isn't piston slap because this only becomes audible once fully warm. It doesn't sound deep enough to be a piston or such. The tick is coming from the top of the motor, passenger side.

Do injectors make more noise once warm? When its a cold start and I use the same heater hose method, I still hear it. However the tick is much more quite, can't even notice over the normal noises.

Guess I am looking for comforting words or advice. I get way paranoid when it comes to my toys.

I questioned noisy injectors before. I was told that you will know when you have the tick and you can hear it even with the hood down.

The only sounds I hear under the hood are the injectors. I put a long plastic tube to find where the noises are coming from.

Hope this helps.

I am fighting a similar noise, that started up a couple of weeks ago, following a dyno tune.

At idle, when the motor is cold you can't even hear it, but after its at operating temps its noticeably louder from outside of the car. Its a light to medium ticking noise, I think I have narrowed it down to coming from the area of the driver side injectors/ blower. Also once you increase the RPMs it seems to go away, probably since the exhaust and engine noises overcome it.

And with the new tune my idle is a hair on the rough side and idles higher, not sure if that's related.

And I am all fired up about getting the Stiegemeier Stage IV port, along with the 60# and KB BAP, but have a feeling I need to get to the bottom of this first.

Just got car back from dealer...

They replaced the valve cover gasket and retorqued the valve cover to spec. I was skeptical when I heard this but they claimed to have called the service hotline and this was a recommendation.

It seems to have fixed my problem. No ticking sound whatsoever now. Guess I got lucky.
