WAP iron blocks have a big W cast in the valley, and one more on the front - dunno if this was true of the AL blocks or not.....
Early Teksid blocks used a "jack screw" to pre-load the side of the main caps, but in 99 all blocks used a straight, single-use bolt.
Teksid blocks = F6LZ-6010-AB, not sure if there were others but that's what's on the 98-98 Cobras and 93-98 Lincolns.
99+ Teksid blocks = XR3Z-6010-CA
01+ are all WAP

WAP valleys have a slew of ribs (like 14) - Teksids have 6

WAP block weigh 80 pounds, Teksids 85.

There are other differences but would require a side-by-side comparo unless you really know the blocks well. (thicker oil pan rails and main bearing webs on WAP)

oops - All DOHC cranks are 8-bolt. The ones from the Mk-VIII and the Marauder are cast, Cobra have always been forged. The forged cranks have a pair of center counterweights that the cast cranks do not.

So I always hear everyone say the 96-98 Teskid blocks are the best. What about the '99 Teskid block? What is different about it that required a different part number or did Ford just want to be difficult again?

I believe the only change was the main caps (the width and the change in side bolt) - but you'll want to grab the SHM book to be sure. There was some kind of change in the knock sensor (got larger? smaller?)

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Mk-VII had a six bolt crank.

 

mark 8 was a six bolt as was the maruder,avaitor,auto mach 1

 

Lincolns, auto Machs, etc had 6 bolt cast cranks. Cobra cranks are forged 8s.

 

Teksid has a waffle pattern in the intake valley.

WAP has a diamond pattern in the intake valley. Also beware of front wheel drive WAP blocks.

 

i found a 1992 teksid block at mustangrevolution the shop where i get all my stuff, its came from a mark8 had a 6 bolt main i remove the intake to be shure and yess it is, its the first of all teksid engine maybe but it had the sticker on each head that tell us the fabrication date and its wrote 1992 on each spark plug wire, the only way that he can tell you the truth is to remove the intake and look for the casting, if he dont want ask you a question lol if you want i can give you the phone number of mr and deal with bob

 

under the intake in the valley. the teskid will have a square pattern and the wap will have a diamond pattern.
