Before I put the heads back on I am wanting to upgrade the threads using either the lock n stitch or time sert repair. The lock and stitch seems like a stronger method, but is it overkill? I can rent the time sert locally then I just have to buy the inserts. I can rent the lock n stitch kit also but i believe it is quite a bit to rent plus the inserts.

Lock-N-Stitch is the only thread repair recommended by Ford. It provides a similar style of repair to the Timesert alternative but with a mechanical interference lock on the insert preventing it from loosening and coming out. I have used Heli-Coil, Timesert and Lock-N-Stitch repairs on heads that I have personally owned. Lock-N-Stitch is vastly superior to Timesert. I would rank the repair systems in my order of preference as Lock-N-Stitch, Heli-Coil, Timesert.

I lock -N- stitched my heads and well the motor has not run yet but the process is timely and well worth it. They are not coming out!!!
Pm your email and I can send you pics of the process.
