Does anyone have a paint # for the supercharger/plenum? When I got my Eaton back after porting it had some scratches that I'd like to eliminate.I tried my local auto paint dealer, but they couldn't be bothered, said they couldn't match it.
Thanks, Guy

Okay,,,I got the can of Plasti-Kote Engine Enamel #202 Universal Gray paint today and tried it out:wallbash: Not even close to the same color,,,the original person who posted that this was a Perfect Match must have been color blind!!!:chair:

Back to the drawing board...............

The closest thing I've seen (though not dead on) is the non polished (powdercoated/painted/whatever) accufab throttle body air inlet. It painted gray.
Maybe check with them and see what they use?
It's pretty damn close. Most people think my air inlet is stock.

The color on the blower varies quite a bit. That paint might have matched the guy that had posted that.
I have two eaton's, my stock and my ported and they are both totally different colors. One is much darker than the other. You might just want to find a color close and paint the whole thing. Matching is going to be tough!!

I believe the Eaton is painted, not powdercoated.
Looking at various sources for swaps I have found some say "powder coated" and some just say "silver." I got to call Bill Bushling at Magnacharger about my bike s/c and I will try to remember to ask.

And Magnacharger is the US Eaton rep - it is near San Francisco. The snout ain't cheap - $200+

To all that think the Eaton is painted you are incorrect. I got my ported blower back from Stiegemeier and it was scratched up and there is no paint that even comes close to matching. I called SVT and they told me to call Magnuson products. DEAD END. I called Eaton directly and after numerous tranfers/dead ends, I reached a guy in their Tech dept. He informed me that the blowers are powdercoated by an outside vender and the formula is a highly guarded secret. I was also told that I could purchase a 100lb bag of the powdercoat for the sum of $500.00. SCREW THAT!
I emailed Dyno-Bob at Stiegemeier to see if he would like the number of the vender. My idea was they (Stiegemeier) could buy the powdercoat and offer it as an option while your blower was being ported. That way everything matches. If your blower was going to be apart, having it powdercoated would be a tit-job. I never recieved a response, so I guess it's a no go.

Hmmm... this seems odd to me because the plenums are the same color and I recently blasted the recessed areas on one of my plenums to get it welded up for more extensive porting and the "coating" came off very easily. Last time I tried to bead blast powder coating I was pretty unsuccessful (hard stuff!)! I was using a different media this time, but thought I'd mention it.

$5/lb.......secret sauce.
I did not know it was sourced out though. With a coating "option" I can see how it becomes standard when they get to a point of saying "the parts WILL get scratched, but the recoat is up to you - for a price." Not saying that they would resort to such practices, but I have sen worse.

I would have never of thought that the powdercoating was out sourced either. It might be another way for Ford to keep costs down. When I got my plenum,tb,blower back from porting, I was a little upset seeing the color my plenum and blower were painted. Only the driver side of my blower got painted. Which was masking the welding that occured. The plenum was totaly painted and it was shipped still tacky. It looked like butt! I should have inquired a little more about what was involved in the porting process. My bad! If I had known that there was going to be painting involved, I would have left it all alone. I don't show my car at all, but I know there are half assed painted items on my car. That bothers me. I fixed it and know I am happy.I know the port job by Stiegemeirer is going to yield some great #s. Too bad I have to wait for spring to roll around to find out.

In response to alchemy This customer is upset about the paint,I have tried to explain the procedure to everyone before hand so they can have the option on welding or not, He is upset because his ports were not cured when he opened the box--We are now wondering if our turnaround time is too Fast--We are now going to a 3 Stage Blower Porting Option. This will define the job as an all out power player or just a guy wanting an entry level Port Job.
Alchemy also says "our work looks like butt" I would be MORE than Happy to replace his Stage 3 Porting work with a Stage 1 or Stage 2.
I WANT ALL MY CUSTOMERS TO BE HAPPY!!

ALL WORK AT THIS POINT HAS BEEN STAGE 3.

For those of you who want Show appearance our Exterior Show Polish work is the way to go!
I have a new paint that matches damn good!
I have researched the aftermarket throttle bodies idle issues can be tuned around in most cases with SCT software. The 65 mm throttle body option would be a nice addition th Stage 3 Porting.

I was very pleased to see Sambandit's Graph-- it clearly shows the Eatons advantage on HP and TQ up to 5500 Rpms. We will continue to improve on these Numbers in 2005--STAY TUNED!

As I stated earlier... I have no problems with the port job itself. I was however upset with the paint! How could I not have been. Like many other individuals, I sent down items to get ported. The finishes on my items were very close to showroom condition and I recieved them back painted with an off battleship grey color.WTF.Many may think I am nit-picking ,but I don't care. How would you feel if they were your items? Aesthetics are a very important thing to me.The blower is the most dominating piece under the hood of our cars. It needs to look good. Right?
I do take some of the blame for not doing my homework first. Lesson learned. Bob, you state you have a color that is a pretty close match. Here is an idea... Offer the oem powdercoating color as an option. Why paint it with a color that is pretty close when you can have the real deal? Later

Stiegemeier:

My supercharger doesn't look like butt,,,LOL,,,just a few deep scratches and most wouldn't even notice but I am Very picky!!The port work is outstanding of course!!!

I would just need to touch up these spots to be happy,,,can you tell me the name and color of this paint or is it a special brew??

Thanks,Vincent

I was only speaking about the blowers. The plenums were not made by Eaton. That was also an outsourced job. So I have no clue as to what the finish was on them. I also media blasted my plenum. I blasted mine at work the day I recieved it back from porting. The finish came off without any problem. Very weird.

I dount doubt that it is powdercoated. It's kinda of a funky powdercoat though....looks a couple mils thinner than most powdercoat jobs I've seen done.

What about sanding/polishing?
I mean, if you cant get a paint to match the powdercoat., it might look really cool.

If you dont want to polish, I'm telling you.....call Accufab. Their non-polished version of the air inlet looks good.
You may get lucky and find out it's a paint. If it is, it's DAMN close to looking like the stock powdercoated blower.
If accufab powdercoats their air inlet it won't be of any help, but if it's paint you're home free =o)

If you can't get an answer frob accufab let me know and I'll see what I can find out. I have a friend who knows their owner very well.

Yeah, it's unlike most powdercoats. It's thinner and comes off more easily.
